- What is the PINT database?
PINT is the collection of the thermodynamic parameters of protein-protein interactions published in scientific journals.
- How do I contact the PINT database if I have some comments/suggestions?
Please send your comments/suggestions to:

bioinfodatabase |

(Please note that copy and paste won't work. Remove the space at either sides of @ and "dot", if you do that. Just to avoid spam. Sorry for the inconvenience.)
- What is the mission of the PINT database?
The mission of the PINT database is to provide a platform where researchers
involved in protein-protein interaction studies can find all the necessary
data available at one place. We hope this help the researchers to save their
precious time in analyzing and comparing their data with the already existing
information than spending their time on searching for similar data scattered
in various journals scientific publications.
It may be noted that now a days most of the journals don't prefer to publish
large amount of data. One option is then to show these data as a table. We feel
that this may not be very useful to the researchers who may need this kind of
data for data mining and analysis. So having your data in PINT database means
it is readily available to the user community.
- Is PINT free to use?
PINT is free for academic purposes. But to use this in commercial applications, they should get a license from us.

- Does PINT contain theoretical data on protein-protein interactions?
No. At present only experimental data have been included. If we get sufficient data on theoretical studies we will try to include it later, may be as a subset to PINT.
- What is the "PINT Code" that you used in this database?
To identify the different complexes in the database we have denoted
different codes for different interacting complexes. The code contains
three parts separated with an "underscore". The first part is 'PINT',
which represents the database. The second and third parts represent
a four letter code for the interacting protein and peptide, respectively.
- How do you define protein and peptide in PINT?
In some cases this distinction is difficult. In such cases we take the
molecule that gets injected as peptide and the molecule that is inside the
cell as protein.
- How do you make the PDB images provided in PINT?
We make it using "MolMol". Thanks to its developers.
- Can I use the PDB images provided in PINT image gallery?
If you would like to use it please let us know. We could provide you an image with out watermarks.
- Is the data available in PINT is downloadable as a whole file?
No. If you need it, please let us know. We are working on it.
- How do I submit my data to PINT?
We are working on it and will soon implement a data deposit form.
Meanwhile, if you have some data to deposit in PINT, please write to us.
- How can I retrieve data from PINT?
PINT provide two search tools to retrieve data from the database.
"Text Search" and "Advanced Search".
Please find "Text Search" at the top menu bar at the home page.
Here is the link for the Advanced Search.
- Where can I find some help for searching the PINT database?
Here is the link: Help
